UIL Policy Brief: Using Libraries to Support National Literacy Efforts

This UNESCO Institute of Lifelong Learning (UIL) policy brief is the result of an international workshop co-hosted by UIL and IREX on the role of libraries in literacy. The brief explains libraries' contribution to literacy development from early levels to advanced proficiency, and, as such, the key part which libraries can play in achieving national literacy goals. Based on these findings, it provides policy recommendations from incorporating libraries and library data in literacy policy dialogue to investing in libraries' capacity and resources.
