i think the space for development of public libraries verry important. when ours were still in a not good place, so near to road where always has a lot of vehiculs, traffic jam, accident, ... then less users came with us, the parents werent confidents to let their childs going to library. But when we've move to new place, nice space. A lot of peoples know about library, and come here everyday to read books, access to internet, search information...

Greetings from Burkina Faso, where I am on sabbatical until August, implementing and researching a program to promote reading amongst rural youth, and also working with the FAVL team here in Ouagadougou.

We were all very excited to hear that FAVL-Burkina has been accepted to membership in the Beyond Access Network, and the three person team, which includes the Director of Reading Promotion and Books Division in the Ministry of Culture will be very much looking forward to participating in the regional conference.

BTW, the FAVL national coordinator in Burkina Faso, Koura Donkoui, will be participating in the NEXT Library conference in Denmark, in June 2013.

Let us hope that the youth will make use of these opportunities and become Job creators and not Job seekers hereby creating opportunities for other unemployed youth as job creators.

I wish to welcome all the new Beyond access members and I am happy to note that the team of development partners is steadily growing.
I am pleased to see that Friends of African Village libraries from Burkina Faso, and the Kampala Public Library and Kampala City council have joined the team. I hope we will be able to establish and strengthen a relation ship with them and the KItengesa Community Library; perhaps give rise to the platform for community libraries in Uganda

As for the Bulgarian project - the target group was long-term unemployed between 40 and 60 from Ruse and rural areas. Thanks to the project KNOW 44 long-term unemployed people found job in less than a year. The idea of our project was to increase employability and stimulate active job-seeking behaviour of long-term unemployed people in active age through motivational and IT trainings.

It is gratifying to know that there are so many actors in the field of information service that see the need to disseminate information to even the least advantaged society and are tirelessly looking for ways to make it easily accessible and applicable. This goes to show how much we can achieve through partnership with other information service providers in contributing to development in our communities.
I wish to thank beyond access initiative for all the hard work it is putting into exhibiting how important libraries are in powering communities and steering development.
